ART PACKS

Art Pack project

Sponsored by Netherlee Parish Church, and in partnership with Claash Collective, Helen MacVey an art specialist introducing art therapy to schools and community centres in the Glasgow area, worked with local craft groups; Stables Studios at Cassiltoun Housing Association, Whiteinch Crafters at Whiteinch Centre, community centres and schools across Glasgow, to make art packs for the children in Uganda, which were delivered March 2017.

Each art pack contained crayons, pens, paint trays, paints, paint brushes, sketchbooks, rulers, felt, wool and craft scissors contained in a backpack, adorned with the Starchild logo

Additional supplies were donated by Netherlee Parish Church and their Craft Group, international artistic network and IMPACT Arts, others were encouraged to make their own bags, fill them with art supplies, or make a £5 donation, through Starchild’s Christmas online campaign 2016.

Whilst in Uganda, Helen introduced the concept of art therapy to teachers and pupils in workshops, giving the opportunity to explore the individual’s creativity.
